weekly update back to school
It's that time of year when everyone logs into SchoolTool to check their schedule. It means the end of the summer is near, but that we also get to see each other soon! Please read through the items below for information on the things you need to know to get ready for the first day.

Student Schedule Release

Student schedules will be available on August 21st in the SchoolTool Portal. Counselors will be in the building periodically between August 21st and September 4th to assist with schedule changes. Please be patient with the counselors as they work through changes.

Only the following schedule changes will be permitted:
  • Missing a course period
  • Scheduled into the wrong course level
  • Changes due to summer school completion

Schedule changes are not permitted for the following reasons:
  • Period change (i.e. want to take a class earlier/later in the day)
  • Teacher change
  • Wanting to be with peers
  • Lunch period changes
  • Dropping classes for study hall to gain late arrival or early dismissal.

All changes must keep the student's schedule at 6.5 or more credits.

From September 8th through September 11th schedule changes will continue to be made for any students that are missing a class period, scheduled into the wrong core course or under the 6.5 credit limit.

Starting September 14th, senior schedule changes and changes to meet graduation requirements for all students will be addressed. Once Senior changes are made, then Junior and Sophomore schedule changes will be prioritized.

Coming Soon: More info on electronic devices, student IDs, and our pass system

All students are assigned and required to use their locker to store their cell phones and other personal electronic devices from bell to bell. Locker numbers and combinations can be found in SchoolTool. As stated in the BCSD electronic device policy students are prohibited from using their cell phone during the school day. We will follow up in the coming days with additional information about the enforcement of our electronic device policy, as well as additional information about student IDs, and our electronic pass system.

School Supplies

School Supply lists are posted on the Baker Website. At the high school level, we recommend finding organizational strategies that work best for the individual student. The most important items for students to have are their school issued Chromebook, something to write on, something to write with, and something to organize notes and papers for each class. Please note that anything with metal, including binders, will need to be removed from backpacks at entry. It is highly recommended that students use folders instead of binders and limit the metal objects they are bringing to school.

Please note: As a part of our electronic device policy this year, students will not be permitted to use wireless headphones during the school day. Teachers will provide wired headphones for class activities if needed, however, students are welcome to bring their own, wired headphones to school for instructional use.
