The Baldwinsville Central School District recognizes the vital role that social and emotional development plays in students’ success—both in school and beyond. Our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons and activities help students develop essential skills such as managing stress, regulating behavior, building positive relationships, and making responsible decisions.
To better understand our students’ needs and evaluate the effectiveness of our SEL initiatives, we will be administering the Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System 2 (BIMAS 2) screening tool. This tool assesses students' social and behavioral health, focusing on skills related to SEL. Students in grades 7–12 will complete the self-report version of the survey.
The insights gained from this screening help us tailor SEL instruction, track progress, and refine programs to better support students. The district has successfully used BIMAS 2 at the elementary level for several years, and this marks our fourth year of implementation at the secondary level. The collected data informs both building-wide and individual student interventions, ensuring that our support systems remain effective and responsive.
We want to make you aware that the screening includes a question regarding thoughts of self-harm. If your child reports concerns in this area, we will reach out to you immediately, conduct a more in-depth assessment, and provide appropriate support, which may include school-based interventions, referrals, or emergency services as needed.
Students at C.W. Baker High School will complete the BIMAS 2 screening on:
📅 November 12th
